The artwork looks fine on screen, but once it's printed and cut, it turns out too big to wrap cleanly or too small to read from the seats. The fix is almost always the same: decide the real size in inches before you print, not after.
Why so many decals come out the wrong size
A light stick grip might be only about an inch tall and a few inches around; a phone-back decal has to clear the camera bump; a water bottle has a curved face that swallows anything wider than a couple of inches. The trouble is that nothing on your screen tells you any of that. You design at whatever zoom feels comfortable, hit print, and the printer decides the final size for you — usually by stretching the page to fit the margins. It looked right in the editor, but came out larger or smaller than the spot it was meant for. That mismatch is the whole problem.
So the first move isn't opening a design app — it's grabbing a ruler. Measure the surface you're sticking to and write the number down in inches: the usable width of the light stick grip, the flat area on the phone, the readable band on the bottle. Those measurements are the spec your sticker has to hit.
Place the artwork at actual size, then print at 100%

For anything that gets handled — a light stick you wave, a bottle you carry — a sheet of laminate or clear tape over the printed sticker keeps the ink from rubbing off, and waterproof or matte sticker paper holds up better than plain label stock. None of that changes the sizing step; you still build at actual size first. How do I know what size sticker to make?
